Hey!
Since we updated Inventor to 2020, I keep getting problems with the "export face as" feature.
I can't find the solution...
First I create a flat state of the part:
Then, I export the Face as:
After that, I check the DXF settings (Must be in ACAD 2000):
When I load the Flat pattern dxf in my laser software, I notice the scale is wrong...
Also when I check in Autocad 2020, the scale is wrong...
Anyone knows how I can fix this?
I can continue by rescaling in ACAD, but this takes a lot more time...
I already tried the reset utility, restarting Inventor, restarting computer,...
Kind regards,

Noticed in your screen shot under the version you have Autocad 2000/LT DXF 2000.
Have you tried changing the version to something newer?
Windows 10 x64 -16GB Ram
Intel i7-6700 @ 3.41ghz
nVidia GTS 250 - 1 GB
Inventor Pro 2020
Here is a hint for you
.82 inches is ~20.8mm..
What units are you using in Inventor?
What units are you using in Autocad?
Hi! Please make sure the unit and measurement setting are set correctly in AutoCAD. The flat pattern was exported as mm. So, the unit should be mm in AutoCAD. Set MEASUREMENT variable to 1.
Many thanks!
Hey, thanks for your reply!
My units are set correctly (mm) both in AutoCad and in the program for laser...
It looks like inventor exports the dxf in mm format, but in Inch dimensions...
I atached the dxf file.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Bjarne
Hey, thanks for your reply!
Yes, I tried.
But the file needs to be in the 2000 version, else the program for laser can't read it.
Kind regards,
Hi! I am not seeing any attached file. Could you share the part file? I would like to understand the behavior better. It should work regardless.
Many thanks!
Hey everybody!
Sorry for my late response, I went on vacation! 😄
I found the problem, it had something to do with my project file. The problem is now solved!
Many thanks and best regards,
Bjarne
HI, there is another way for exporting dxf from flat pattern. Right Click on Flat pattern option in Model tree. Now, Select "save copy as". Then select DXF option and custom layer option in pop-up menu. In this method scale of dxf is similar to the part unit. So, before export dxf select "mm" unit for dxf measurement in mm.
Could you not explain how you solved this problem, it would be beneficial to others. 👍
Sorry for the delay.
If I'm correct, I fixed it by using a "blank"project file.
I think someone messed up a configuration in the project file I was using back then.
Hi Gary,
Another possibility is that the DWG template file you used to export has MEASUREMENT set to 0. Open the dwg file and change MEASURMENT to 1 and save.
Many thanks!
