I have created a part and dimensioned it as a IDW. I wanted to turn this into a DWG, so I used the the DWG converter in the file menu and saved it. After openeing it in DWG TrueView, the bottom of the page only shows the model and sheet tabs. The model tab is complely empty.
I have done this for another part and the bottom of the page contains three tabs model, layout 1, and layout 2.
How do I get my other part the present the three tabs model, layout 1, layout 2?
I have attached my IPT, IDW, and the DWG that does not work. I would really appreciate some help on this.
I'm guessing that you're using the "Save as" option based on what's written. To have the drawing show up in AutoCAD's model space, open up the idw file, go to File > Export > Export to DWG. Should be self-explanatory from there
Sorry for poorly explaining my issue, I am a bit flustered. I am using the export tab, and clicking export to DWG.
I just can't figure out why there is nothing in my model space after I convert the file.
Hi! There should be model space unless you export it to Layout. Please share the example here and forum experts can take a look.
Many thanks!
Save-As then Save-Copy-As.
Then you can select AutoCAD dwg and choose options. There is a lot in the following tabs to set how you want the result. I usually find some text formatting issues that I have to correct...
Hi Johnson;
I had a look at the OP files. When Saving As to dwg format (or Export to DWG) - the Option button in DB gives only options for the previews. Nothing else. Just as it is shown on the attached image.
What can you tell about it?
Cheers,
Igor.
Hi Igor,
The export file type was set to Inventor dwg, not AutoCAD dwg. I need a bit clarification on OP's workflow. If he an idw as Inventor dwg file, then there will only be Paper space (no Model space). If he exports it to AutoCAD dwg, there should be Model space and Paper space in the dwg file.
Many thanks!
Hi Johnson;
You are right, I have overlooked the obvious! 🙂
Cheers,
Igor.
