Duplicating drawing dimensions (format) across multiple similar files

Hope theres an easy answer to this one. Im drafting 4 large 304 sheet metal parts. All have slightly different hole patterns, but are very close. All have the same size countersinks on them.  Every detail that I need to add to the print is the same across the 4 parts.

I finished the first .idw, now how can I duplicate these dims across the remaining 3 parts?

Sorta like a config .ini file?

Or do I just have to old school it, pick it, type it, and format it all 4 x's?

If the other parts are "Save As" from the first part.

Save As the drawing and go to Manage, Replace Model Reference.

I think you are asking how to reuse a dimension scheme from one drawing to another.

If so, I use the following workflow:

  1. Plan ahead when making the 3d models.
    1. The drawings will behave better if similar parts are modeled from the same parent.
    2. I might have made a single formed part with all the holes and other features
    3. When my design required a similar part, I would save the first model to a new file, then edited it.  Its quicker than starting a brand new model
  2. Use the Replace Model command in the drawing environment to switch from one 3d model to another
    1. Make a drawing of the first 3d model
    2. Save a copy of the drawing and rename it for the second model
    3. Open the new drawing and use the Replace Model command in the Manage tab to switch out the part file as required.
    4. Most of the dimensions will attach to the new geometry.
    5. Fix any broken or missing dims.

The closer in geometry and feature creation history that the two 3d models are, the better this workflow functions.  It will work for unrelated parts but most of the dimensions will fail.
