Duplicate entire assembly and modify independently

I have a CAD file I got from a manufacturer that we need multiple variants of. The file I have started at 1000mm and we need 210mm, 500mm, and some others. I set up parametric parameters for length inside the individual parts after copying the master file but the part associations have not changed i.e. if I edit the copied assembly, the part files for the master change and the master does as well and visa versa.

Is there a way to save an entirely new set of those assembly and part files without having to redo all of the constraints, etc. if I were to just copy the part files independently and rebuild the assembly.

Thanks

Timothy

Try Vault, Design Assistant or CopyDesign (C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 20??\SDK\UserTools\CopyDesign)

Sometimes you just need a good old reboot.

You can copy using one of  the following methods using Inventor:  (Each one has their pros and cons)

1.  Save and Replace Component method located under the Assemble/Productvity pull-down.

2.  Copy Assembly using the Copy method located under Assemble/Pattern section.

3.  ILogic Design Copy.   This function has a misleading title.  It was developed by the company that created the iLogic add-in years ago.  It can be found on the Tools ribbon tab when there's no files loaded in Inventor.  It kinds of the Vault Design Copy within Inventor.  Check out this link: http://synergiscadblog.com/2014/09/23/copy-files-easily-with-ilogic-design-copy-even-without-ilogic-...

4.  Use Design Assistant.

If I was copying an entire assembly and its related data (and I didn't have Vault) I would first go for the iLogic Design Copy method.  However if you had Vault, then use the Vault design copy interface.
