Drawing View Line styles

Is there a way in Inventor in assembly drawings to change the line style of a part of an assembly to hidden line so as you can highlight items inside?

You can change it to invisible by right clicking the part in the drawing browser.

If you still want the part shown, it might work if you change the BOM structure to reference, although I'm not entirely sure about that.

You can right click on a part in the Browser pane and choose Select as Edges, then change the layer they're on, which changes line style, weight, color, etc.  But the technique you choose depends on what you're trying to achieve.  Can you share an image that shows what you're hoping to accomplish?

In Inventor 2016 & 17, you're able to select a part and make it transparent, which might be useful, too.  How about upgrading (or wait a few more weeks for 2018)?

Hi! Just to double-check. You mean "assembly drawing" as idw/dwg file or iam file? The suggestions above are for idw/dwg file. If you want to make such change in an assembly iam file, you can right-click on a component -> check Transparent. Or, you go to View -> View Style and select a style.

Great new addition to drawing functionality.. I use it quite often with "clear plastic" covers,etc...that would otherwise hide everything behind it loosing all that detail..

Making it transparent works great to bring that detail back out..

Please note "Select as Edges" may select lot of edges in case of complicated bodies - and adding overrides to all those edges may significantly impact drawing performance.

I'd recommend to modify body/part properties instead of individual edge properties, when whole bodies/parts needs to be modified.
