Drawing: Place Cross Section view - With limited depth

Hello,

I have a really large drawing of a building filled with equipment.

I would like to take a cross section view of certain area to look at certain equipment.

But there is so many things in the background I don't want to see.

Is there a way to place a sectional view of another view that has been cropped?

Or is it possible to make the sectional view with a depth of 1 meter? 2 meters? e.t.c.

You can adjust the depth of the section view after creation.

There is a couple ways to approach this.  You can make a view rep or an LOD to just show the parts you want to see.

Then make sure that particular view rep or LOD is linked to this view.

Second,  in your assembly you can do a section as I show below.  This method will allow you to know the distance in your drawing where to place your section view.

Once you figure out where you want to place your section, create a plan in your model at that point and use it to place the section view in your drawing by constraining the section cut to the plane.  Then you can simply adjust this plane distance in your model and it will update in your drawing.

I think maybe you are making this more difficult than it is, and I don't think this really answers the question (the correct solution has already been presented IMO)

I am running into the same issue where I want to control the section depth into page. Is there a way to do this?
