Drawing Notes Numbering issue

Good day.

I seem to have a strange issue with the text embedded numbering, used for notes in this case.

When using the numbering button, it adds new number for each time I press Enter, and this is fine.

The problem starts when there is a sub-level, then the numbering resets, and I did not find a way to make it continuous.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Hello,

Yes you are correct.

I checked in Inventor 2019 version and unable to figure out any best solution for it.

Can you please brief why you need this because I also used note command in my drawings but only for general purpose like when there are max. 5 to 6 notes to describe. Do you have so many notes?

If you want to give part numbering then best way to use part list creation with BOM view.

Please brief your needs then maybe we can find another solution.

Hi Guys,

Indeed, Inventor Drawing Text has a lot of room for improvement. The formatting is just not as powerful as Word or Word Pad. I am wondering if you could use Word Pad and copy and paste the text back to Inventor Drawing Text in the meantime.

Many thanks!

That's what I ended up doing.

I am copying old paper blueprints to Inventor.

Some have up to 10 notes.

how long has this been broken? to me having to work outside of inventor in order to paste content into inventor isnt a solution. it seems a simple UI fix

Well, I kind of envy Inventor developers.

Still living in 1996..

Don't get me wrong, it was really awesome! Diablo, Duke Nukem, QUAKE!

But in 2019, the official response - use Notepad.

WOW.

I remember custom Quake2 maps using the map editor and someone created a very detailed map of Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water" and it was really cool to run around in.

I would love to model that place in inventor and export it as 3D meshes to import into a similar map editor today....I wonder if Autodesk Architectural products can do such detailed 3D walkthroughs.

....and yeah, I used to work for an Autodesk VAR who sold their own in house software and as a consultant, we had to give feedback to the developers in India correcting them on what was needed in the software....they werent engineers, designers or draftsmen....they were just software developers and as such would code it to be as easy and bulletproof for them. Usability for the customers however suffered sometimes until such issues could be rectified in the next release, it was painful
