Drawing lines not generating

I'm experiencing something very strange in my drawings. Lines of various parts are disappearing only in the plan view. Even when i create a new drawing and place the plan view, they are missing. Im thinking there is something wrong with the model file because i first had this problem in Inventor 2014 and now have the same problem (with the same model file) on a new computer in Inventor 2016. Has anyone ever experiences something like this? I cant even create a new drawing because the lines just wont show up. Thanks in advance.

Can you attach the Inventor file  here?

Do you get any errors if you go to Manage tab and Rebuild All the model?

Can you at least attach a screen capture image of the model?

Had this same problem yesterday in Inventor 2016 and the issue was related to a part that someone had gotten from a vendor in a STEP format.  This purchased part had too much data in it (the part itself was 42MB in size).  Once we removed that part, the drawing view worked fine.  Anyhow just a thought.

Did the part pass Inventor Quality Check?

Can you attach the file here that exhibits this behavior?

I was helping someone yesterday and I don't have access to the part..  Anyhow it was a emergency light bar from a vendor supplied STEP file that had all of the internal information for a plastic part.  For the end user's, it was way too complicated for what this user needed it for.

So what does it matter if you see the part or if it passed Inventor quality check?  It's not something the user made and he ended up just simplify the overall part and the issue went away.  Most likely there was something wrong with the information he got.  In the end he just didn't realize that it contained all this extra surfaces, faces, and etc.   Anyhow that was the root cause of our issue and I was merely pointing that out to @Anonymous as a thing to look at if they have imported parts from other sources.

Thanks for the replies. For some reason my attachments aren't attaching. So i took your advice and did the rebuild and did get an error. I drilled down to the assembly that was causing it and got this error when trying to rebuild: "Errors occurred during update, One or more derived objects have had their Export status turned off in the source. Use the Design Doctor for treatment options." Whats odd is that the design doctor isnt red, so i dont know how to even run it to fix the problem. I also dont know how to do it manually. I opened the 3 parts and could not find anything related to exporting. Thanks again!

Well, I solved one problem. haha.  I was able to get attachments using the IE browser vs Firefox.  Here are my errors.

I assume that you did not find the error with the actual part file.

Can you attach that file rather than pictures?

No errors in the actual part files.   Attached is my pack a go with the nut and bolt assembly.  It is called "Manifold Flange Valve Bolt & Nut Assy".  What strange is that the nuts and bolt are displayed in every drawing/assembly up until the point I get to my top level assembly drawing, and then it vanishes in only one view.  Its not just the nuts and bolts vanishing, its also a part of the elbow and the valve gear heads.  So this would make me think that the problem is with that top level assembly model.   Thanks for looking into this for me, I really appreciate it.

Quality check does indicate issues with the parts.

I don't have time now to write up a report of what I would do - but I would expect issues using this geometry.

In the meantime, I recommend that you install all Service Packs and Updates for your version of Inventor.

JD,

Thanks for the advice, I corrected the parts with the rebuilds and repairs.  Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem.  I don't think the problem is with the parts as much as something strange with the top level assembly.  See the manifold drawing I have attached.  All of the lines are drawn.  Now look at the same manifold at the system level in the System drawing.  The manifold parts are only missing in the plan view, not the elevation or iso.  Also note that the problem isn't just with the manifold, the elbow that ties into the manifold has some additional lines that shouldn't be there.  And I know the problem isn't with the drawing itself, because a new drawing will do the same thing after placing view.  So I think it has something to do with the top level model file.   What are your thoughts?   Thanks for your time.
