Create a "Crop Operation Using an Existing Sketch".

I couldn't get it to work and was hoping someone could elaborate on the provided instructions.

An example, picture, file of what you're trying to do?

I too thought it would be more helpful if the Inventor help document included more detail.

A crop in inventor is a way to control the bounds of a view.

Boss: "hey let's get rid of all those other parts in that detail."
Designer: "okay boss, I will just open up the drawing and crop down my view so it won't be within the view boundary."

Hi Tom,

Inventor drawing sketch has multiple modes. It can be confusing indeed. To create a Crop view, you need a sketch attached to the view, not just a sketch on the sheet. First, select the view to be cropped and the create the sketch. Draw a close boundary (any curves will do) -> Finish Sketch. Then crop it.

Many thanks!

Are you trying to crop a Base or Projected View, or are you trying to crop a Detail View?

The crop tool may have some limitations depending on the type of the parent drawing view.
