Does Inventor require Excel or can I use any spreadhseet editor?

I'm using Inventor 2021, and Microsoft's Office 365 is causing me problems with other non-Autodesk products.  I'd like to ditch Office 365 and go to Libre Office or Open Office.  As long their spreadsheet programs are compatible with Excel's XLS/XLSX format; will I have a problem?

Thanks, Matt

Inventor requires a local install of MS Excel for full functionality.   I'd be wary of any of the Office 365 products that are not a full local copy of Excel.

There has been development effort to reduce the dependence on Excel but it is still required for some functions.  I don't know if the Excel requirement will ever be eliminated.

Thank you for the prompt reply.

After looking over the two links you provided, it appears I may get by not having Excel.  But that's a big if too.  I may just uninstall Excel and see what happens.  I can always reinstall it if need be.

I really hope Autodesk migrates away from requiring a local copy of Excel being on the system, and just require XLS/XLSX file compatability for spreadsheet related commands.
