dimension to an intersection

Trying to dimension to an intersection across 2 radii. Why is this so difficult., When applying given instructions ie using normal procedures its still not simple or working. Please see attached sketch.

I would probably place the dimension to nearby points, then drag each end to its intersection point, carefully swiping along the two intersecting lines on your way.  You will see a yellow dot and dotted extensions when you get to the intersection.

If you can post an example drawing (and model), I'll try to create a video for you.

Hope the attached helps:

Start dim > Select "1" line in the pic > Right-click > "Intersection" > select "2" in image. Next, Click "3" in image > Right-click > "intersection" > Select "4" and place the dim. This will create the intersection marks.

I agree it seems simple to dimension an intersection ,please my attachment ,the problem seems to be creating an intersection dimension to two intersections. In my sketch I require a dimension as such that it is from intersection to intersection not from intersection to centre line, this would make dimension 1.982 to 3.964.

In AutoCAD its a simple case of picking all four line and placing the dim.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is easy to do in Inventor once you understand the technique.

The first time around can be confusing.

Edit:

Are these two edges lines, or are they actually large radius arcs or splines?

(This can easily be checked by attempting to add an Angle dimension. If angle is accepted, then they are lines.)

Can you Attach the *.ipt file here?

I have worked around the problem by attaching a pcd line central to the trigonometry , this then enables me to dimension to an intersection and then to the pcd line, its adequate for manufacturing purposes.

Both techniques mentioned in this topic work just fine in Inventor 2023.2, anyway.  Can you post images of the problem?  Can you post the model and the drawing?

This was a known issue in 2023.0. It has been fixed in 2023.1 or 2023.2. Please install 2023.0.1 (a style related fix requires this to be installed first) followed by 2023.2 update.

You can sketch it and then dimension it.
