Copy Revision table between sheets

Hi All,

On IV2018, I have currently got a revision table on sheet 1 and not on ongoing sheets. However, we are modifying our template and We need to have revision table on each sheet. Can we copy or edit property of current revision table to make it visible on every sheet? I tried using right click and there is no option for copy. I have to do on multiple drawings some comprising 5 sheets.

What is the quickest way to copy rev table between different sheets of same drawing? Any setting to make it happen quickly? This is bit urgent so anyone can help me wud be great. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Yash

@Yashasvi23481

Tables in general are not something that can be added to the drawing templates.  They have to be added after the fact.

With that said, are you using Vault?  If so, depending on which version of Vault (Basic, Work Group or Pro) will speak directly to whether Vault is connected to the revision status.  If you don't, the revision you place in the revision block will drive the revision in the title block.  Typically it is not the practice to place a revision table on each sheet as they are usually all the same.  I have in the past on rare occasions had to have different revisions on each sheet.  Not the norm though.  What is your reasoning behind wanting to place a revision table on each sheet?

In answer to your original question, short of iLogic, there is not a way to auto insert these into the format.  But, once you fill out one on sheet one, the remaining sheets will all auto populate with the info you already placed. per sheet 1

Hi Yash,

You can add a revision table to the template. But, you cannot copy a revision table and paste it elsewhere. Another way to do is to create a custom sketch symbol. The symbol looks like a table and it can have prompted text. You can easily copy and paste from one sheet to another or to a different drawing. Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard can also help transfer the symbols to a group of files.

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,

You state in your post that you can add the revision block to the template.  I have just tried that and so it is that you can.  Seems to me this hasn't always been the case, because I recall trying this some years ago and the revision block didn't stick with the template and didn't come in when creating a new drawing.  I am thrilled this has been changed and can now be added.  I am glad for this thread, because being creatures of habit, sometimes we often don't revisit things that didn't used to work that some how now do.

To the point about not being able to copy the revision block from sheet to sheet, this is true, but one can add the revision block to subsequent sheets, it will just be exactly as what is shown on sheet one.

Welcome!

From reading the thread it seems like the solution is to add to your template.  This will not fix anything on drawings that have already been created, but should work for new drawings.

I can add the revision table to my template but when i add a new sheet, the revision box doesnt follow through. Our company procedure is to have the revision box on all pages.

Activate sheet with Rev table.  On the left browser tree, right click Rev Table and Copy.

Activate sheet sheet your want Rev to copy to.  On the left browser tree, right click the sheet title, paste.

Thank you.

Going by your response, im assuming that it's not possible to have the revision table built into the template for the new sheet?

Cheers

See if you can save it as Sheet Formats.

I don't add Rev Table until I get a Rev.  So I don't put it in template.

We take the easy way out, in the revision area for all sheets after sheet 1 it just says "see Sht.1".
