Diameter dimension not showing in drawing

Hi. I have a frustrating issue regarding the drawings. When I want to insert a diameter dimension on my drawing, the dimension is not showing, only the arrow. But when I dimension a radius, it is showing. All the other dimensions are correctly shown on the drawing. Maybe it is an installation error?

Do you know the solution?

Thank you

Hi! Yes, this can be changed in Tools -> App Options -> Drawing -> Dimension Type Preferences -> select Linear Diametric.

Many thanks!

It is also not working. You can see on the picture attached that the radius is showing, but the top arrow should show the diameter, and it is not.

Hello,

I've been experiencing the same problem since yesterday in Inventor 2023 and 2024. I think it could be related to the tolerance methods: In other tolerance methods, the dimension appears correctly, but in the default it doesn't appears and in reference method it is incorrect.

I haven't been able to solve it, and I would appreciate it if someone has any ideas about this issue.

Regards,

SV

Hi Sebastian,

I just want to double-check that you have changed the default dimension type setting (Tools -> App Options -> Drawing -> Default Dimension Type). If it still does not work, you may want to use Inventor Reset Utility to reset all Inventor settings back to install default. Then change the Default Dimension Type setting.

Many thanks!

Hello @johnsonshiue, thanks for your response.

I changed default drawing dimension type from .idw to .dgw and resetted the settings but it didn't work, the problem persists. I also discovered that these symbols are not inserted correctly. I don't use that function, but I'm sharing it with you in case it's part of the problem.

It appears that you are missing the necessary font for these symbols, which is AIGDT.  This should have been installed with Inventor, but apparently got deleted since then.

Unzip the attached file, then place the AIGDT___.TTF file in C:\Windows\Fonts.  Now you should see the various symbols in your drawings.  You might need to restart Inventor for this to take effect.

Hello again,

I forgot to restart after using Inventor Reset Utility. I restarted my computer and it worked.

Many thanks to everyone who helped!
