Design Library vs Toolbox

Dear Inventor users,

I am comparatively new on Inventor & struggling to find out the right approach. I have been working on SolidWorks for last 8 years. So, that's why I am looking for similar things in inventor.

Actually, in SolidWorks we have two different things one is named as toolbox and the other is called as design library.

I toolbox, we got nut-bolts fasteners etc. whereas in design library, we got standard components & assemblies for piping and Mould etc. In design library, we can add our own desired components and assemblies to reuse again.

In SolidWorks we recall these saved components when we need to use these components, sometimes we want to use these parts with little bit of modification, so we do so by make independent command. It allows us to create an exact copy of that components & than we can edit that component.

In Inventor we have one stop solution i.e., content center.

In content center we can publish our own parts, but not assemblies for future use.

Sometimes, I have to break link with the parent part which is saved in content center. But also, unable to do it in the right way.

Also, not able to edit them as per the req.

So, if there is any other possibility to do so, please let me know.

Hi!

You have a similar approach in Inventor, you just have to define in each project which folder* you will use as library folder.       *(or folders, it's possible to add more than one)

Content Center is set automatically to the default folder, but you can select another one.
