Design assisant location for a rename

Hi all,

I have to do a rename of a part in an assembly. When using design assistan, I select the part and rename it

But the destination folder always goes to the "workspace"

Is there somewhere a setting that I overlook that makes sure when I do a rename, that it just keeps in the folder where the original part is in.

When I do a copy it makes perfect sense that I have to select the correct folder for the new parts. But for a rename?

Thanks

Hi! Design Assistant is Inventor Project aware. The default landing folder is \Workspace\. If not \Workspace\, what folder do you want to change it to? I guess you may want to Pack&Go the files, place them in a different folder, and then rename the files using Design Assistant accordingly.

Many thanks!

The problem is that if I just do a rename from a single part. I'll have to search in my \Workspace for the correct folder (even though the renamed part will remain in the same folder as the original)

When I make a complete copy of a complete assembly I get it that you have to go in to the \Workspace to select/create a folder.

Can you even change the default folder where the parts will go?

Hi Berry,

Are you using Default project or a custom project? You may change the \Workspace\ in a custom project easily (move the files accordingly).

Many thanks!
