Design Accelerator Bolted Connection Array

Hi All,

Can someone tell me if there's a way to use Array on a DA bolted connection?

I want to propagate the holes and the fasteners in various parts created in the Frame Generator.

The method used is by Geometry (= no existing holes, not existing sketches, not existing usable geometry for placing the holes/fasteners on the parts).

Thanx ...

Hello,

How about pre-define holes and reuse the hole array in bolted connection?

Hello Chris,

unfortunately it is not possible to create a bolted connection pattern without any existing geometry like holes or circular references. Also there is no possible to copy hole features to different parts it means that the bolted connection is able to connect only the same set of parts.

I would recommended you to use Templates Library in the Bolted Connection dialog.

let me know if you need more info

Hi Pavel,

Thanx for your answer.

That's what I figured.

Typical Autodesk 1/2-arse command they never finished!

I also tried using the Templates, but ran into problems:

1. Arrraying the Template causes the bolted connection group to be broken (= red lightening bolt).

2. When changing any of the components (e.g., washers) to a different type the Array automatically deletes.

3. When recreating the Array, the changed components revert back to original type.

LOTS OF PROBLEMS with this function!

The above reasons are probably why I quit using this function a decade ago. But since it's been so long, I must've forgotten how USELESS it was for day-to-day design and detailing "production drafting" work!

Also, I can't find out how to make the bolted connection (or the Template) iam and ipt files into CUSTOM (= save to local directory). Any way this is possible?

Thanx for your help, it's appreciated!
