Default Template File Location Does not Hold When Changing to a New Path

In Inventor 2017, I changed the path of the Default Templates to a folder on our server where we have custom template files.  When I hit apply, a dialog box shows up saying in order for this change to take place, I need to exit Inventor and restart the program.  When I restart Inventor and go look at the path to the Templates, it has reset itself back to the Default Path, %PUBLICDOCUMENTS%\Autodesk\Inventor2017\Templates\.  How do I get Inventor to accept the new template path?  I have gone through this process with two other PCs and they retain the new path.

Welcome to the community..

It may mean one of the following:

1.  You don't have the proper permission to write the information back to the registry.

2.  The network connection to this location on your machine is not alive/active at the time you launched Inventor.  Can you confirm you can connect/navigate to that network location and then launch Inventor and retest.

3.  Or the active project that is assigned to Inventor has the template location defined to this location under its folder option.  Most likely this is not the case but I would check to make sure you are using the correct project file and that the information under the project file/folder option states Default for the template location.

Its probably #1...

Do any other changes to the application options stick when you close/restart Inventor?

Or just have someone else log in (someone where it works fine on their computer) and then see if it works for them..

..or 1) because your employer has a start up script that points it back to their location or the default location

Thank you for the help.  We did not have the proper permission to write the information back to the registry.  Inventor is holding the path now.
