default setting for placing views in shaded view

When I place a model (ipt) into a dwg (idw) the model is coming in as not shaded. I, for the life of me, cannot figure out what I did to make it suddenly not default to being placed as a shaded view. Can someone tell me where can I find this setting?

Hi andrew.nao,

What version are you using?

I can't think of a setting for this, but I think there might be a registry hack:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

It depends on your version of Inventor..

But in 2017 that setting is (should be) persistent and retained across sessions once set..

So you basically create a drawing/base view and set it as shaded, then save the drawing.. Then after that any new drawings even when you close Inventor and restart or tomorrow or whatever should keep that same setting.. It stores "preference" that in the registry.

But you are like me.. I dislike the persistent stuff.. I just want a checkbox to set those defaults... Sadly Autodesk is trying their hardest to get away from that stuff as they claim that too many users feel that there are too many application options/document settings already..

Hi,

It indeed remembers what you used last and will use this for the next. I'm quite satisfied with this behavior.

I sort of agree with @mcgyvr that more of these settings should be available, whenever you have emotion to it. But that shouldn't result in tons of tabs and checkboxes. I would like some kind of 'advanced settings' that has endless options on whatever you can't think of in a clear but simple textual fashion. Like the about:config in firefox.

Just wanted to add that.
