Default appearance

For some reason the default appearance has an image attached to it. I tried opening the template .ipt file from the template directory, removing the image and saving the file. But when I create a new .ipt part using the template the image  is attached to the default appearance again. I've attached a screenshot in case my wording isn't very clear. Can anyone help? Thank you.

after you edited the template did you saved the style to library?

Thank you Adrian. Saving the style to the library after editing the template worked.
