Dealing with STL files

Hi there,

I'm new here.

We got a new 3D scanner and we are considering Autodesk Inventor as a software to deal with the output files. I work with Catia V5, but I think for this project we will go to Inventor.

We get STL files from the scanner.

What is the best software from Autodesk to do this? I was understanding Inventor

Are there any modules specialized for STL?

We want to import the STL models, make some modifications (cut them, assembly some together... simple functions)

thank you

regards,

Hi,

If I understand correctly, you are talking about STL (mesh) file downstream workflow such as modify, assembly and even create a drawing for it. Yes, they are all supported by Inventor.

Refer more from below document:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-310CB8C2-7554-4BBD-8AD7-A19D516A0A80

Meanwhile, if you are a subscriber, you can download mesh enabler in app store for free to convert mesh body to a solid.

Hope it helps!

To @Anonymous : Very good engine but it has its quirks. Do it step by step.

Hello!

I explored Inventor's capabilities of working with scan data recently. It'll be great if the videos can help you.
