DATA FOR MATERIAL LIBRARY

Hi all,

I am not a materials person.  However, I would like to update (add too & create a custom) the Materials Library.  Any idea where I can get all the physical data for different grades of steel and aluminum?

I am sure the mechanical properties are very similar to one in the library already, but I want to include the proper material nomenclature in my BOM's and use them in my parts list so I do not have to type each item every time I create a part.

I took a quick look at MatWeb but did not see all the data listed in the Material browser for a given grade.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Steven

MatWeb should have almost everything.

Which one you couldn't find?

Check website of your local material supplier or mill.

None of the Basic Thermal data and Young's Modulus under mechanical is not provided.

I do not want to add anything that may not be correct as some of these models will be used for stress analysis at some point.

Thanks, Steven

Matweb should provide the information you need, that is all I have ever used.

What specifically did you not see listed?

Look up spec on ANSI/ISO etc standard.

They give minimum and range on spec.  Should use minimum for analysis.

Most likely you won't get thermal which is not used in stress/structural analysis.
