Custom content center isn't working with imported components

I'm putting together a custom content center on inventor 2016 that will have all of the commonly used sensors, and pneumatic fittings. I've downloaded these from the vendor website and imported them in as a multi body .ipt file. I can publish these to my custom content library but when I try to add one to an assembly I get the error message and I can't add the part. Can imported components be added to a custom content center library?

When a error message appears and you say there is one, it helps if you share that exact message so we can assist you.  There's nothing in your posting that we can use to troubleshoot the issue.  Smiley Wink

You also need to indicate what version of Inventor your using as well.

Also it doesn't matter if you model the part yourself or imported/saved it (.IPT), content center still works the same.

That makes sense @Mark.Lancaster. The error is coming up as a pop up window and says 'unable to create component' after i try to place the component.

I'm using Inventor Professional 2016, Build 236, release 2016 SP2

That message may point to 2 different issues.

1.  The location you have specified either in Tools/Application Options/File tab or per the folder option (under your active Inventor Project file) for the placement of content center components is set to a location that you don't have full read/write access.

2.  The content center cache under your Windows user profile is corrupt.   Exit Inventor and delete the following folder: C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Inventor 2016\Content Center\CMCache.  Restart Inventor and see what happens.

I found out why the imported components were publishing to the Content center but would fail when placed into an assembly. There was a Sketch that would import over from the .SAT File. So when I published the part to the content center it would say published successful but when i placed it into an Assembly it would Fail and give the error Failed to create part. Below is the sequence I used

Also i added captions to these screen shots but it's not coming through when i post this.

For future publishing of parts. Download from the vendor and then import it to .IPT. Check for any sketches in the drawing and delete them before publishing. Also the publish button would be grayed out when I opened the imported file and I had to click save, close, and reopen the part before it would enable again.
