Creating shared material library

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I would like to create a shared material library in Inventor 2013. I want to relink the design data folder to our shared drive. Another option would be to keep it in Vault which I have tried but it doesn't work because when somebody creates a new material he will create it locally on his C drive. The question is how does he check that material in Vault so others can use it as well?

We have tried to check in a new part with newly created material but I couldn't see that material on the other PCs after checking out the design data folder from the Vault.

The question is what is better Vault or Shared drive? Am I doing this right?

Thanks

Our design data folder is on a mapped network drive. It has nothing to do with Vault, so everyone can edit the library and I see that's what you want. You can configure it to be read only in the project manager, if you don't want all users to edit the library.
