Creating a reference table or flat surface below a part in Autodesk Inventor

Hey guys,

I have a list of parts (most of them are .ipt files). We are working on a study and after selecting the final parts, my supervisor added a new suggestion. He wants to create a flat surface as a reference, so the participants will understand how the part has been placed before making a choice. 

We want to be able to rotate a part while the flat surface keeps steady. Like in the image below, on the 3D printer software you can place and rotate the part, we are looking for something similar

I tried using the rectangle tool to create a sort of "table" and then extrude it but so far, not working very well. Do you have any suggestions?

I attached two parts. How can I place the disk 2 part on top of the bottom ikea table/surface while keeping the table steady? Is that possible, if so how? Thanks.

Hi! You may try using Inventor's 3D Print add-in (Tools -> Add-Ins -> Additive Manufacturing).  Or you may want to try the Mesh Design environment in Fusion plus its 3D Printing workflow, which has more extensive 3D Printing support than Inventor.

We are not printing anything after the study. I just used the image as a reference to what I am looking for. What I am trying to do is to place the disk file on top of the table (both images attached) and if possible to keep the table anchored (no movement - the only moving part would be the one on top). Is that possible on Inventor? If so, how do I go?

Hi! This is pretty straight forward to do in Inventor. Just create the table. After that, enable Contact Set for both the gear and the table. You can drag the gear in place as if they are real solids that cannot be penetrated.
