CREATE SUBASSEMBLY FROM COMPONENTS OF LARGER ASSEMBLY

Is it possible to create a subassembly from parts of a larger assembly?

I have an assembly with >700 parts.  I need to take two separate ipts and a 3 piece rectangular pattern and create a subassembly of those 5 parts. How can I do this without loosing the existing contraints??

Select the components.

Right click Components>Demote

you will get a warning about possibly loosing some constraints, but I seldom actually do loose any.
