Create solid from a surface model

Hello,

I've created a tractor tyre as a surface model. See attached file.  Now I want to convert it to a solid to fillet the lugs etc.

I tried using the stich command, but that doesn't work.

Does anybody know how I can do this?   Your help is much appreciated!!

Many thanks in advance!!!

Hi

  1. The overall geometry of the tire is open, so it can't be stitched or sculped because it has no enclosed space. It can be thickened.
  2. It's best to create a single tread on one side and convert it into a new solid. Then, mirror and translate (rotate) it to create an instance on the other side. The final step will be to create a circular pattern of these solids. This will save half the number of operations in the model browser.

Hi! Though the process may be a bit tedious, it is highly doable. Basically, stitch the trimmed boundary patch surfaces. Pattern the Stitch feature. Repeat it on the other side. And stitch all together. Thicken the revolved surface. Lastly, use Sculpt command to attach the tread to the tire.
