Corner seam doesn't remove flange relief gap

Hi all,

I have this sheet metal part in which I've created flanges with offset and then use the corner seam function to close the gaps. Sometimes it will leave the relief gaps from the flanges after having created the corner seams. (See picture)

When I create a step-file of this part our manufacturer is not able to create a correct flat pattern, because there are some weird faces that are not supposed to be there.

I've got no clue why sometimes this happens and sometimes it doesn't. Does anybody else have this problem or knows why this happens? I've added the part below.

Not sure why it happens but you can probably remove them with 'delete face' and heal.

Not solving the issue though.

Is there a reason why you're not letting Inventor do the seam?

Select multiple edges at once?

If you use this bend method, your method will work because it doesn't create the reliefs in the first place.

I've tried this bend method, but it doesn't seem to work.

I don't create multiple flanges at once because that way Inventor won't let me create the corner seam at the bottom (the one in the picture below).

At the bottom I can't create multiple flange with the same feature, since they are different lengths.

As for using remove and heal face, I can't seem to select the faces I want to be removed.

Yeah, delete face doesn't work. Sorry.

What doesn't work about the other bend method? Works fine on mine.

This is the multiple edge version:

You get this at the end, but you can model the join you want.

The flange length is to long to use this method:

Well, I almost had it (see Attached).

I will try to return to this one later.

Hi! I took a quick look at the part. I think this is a bug. It has something to do with the default Bend Relief Shape: Round. Somehow Corner Seam does not handle it properly. Change the Flange Bend Relief to Tear. It will work better. This is geometry specific. It could be difficult to find a fix.

Many thanks!

Here is an iPart in IV2020 format. There are four different versions of creating the design you are after. None of them delivers an issue you are experiencing.
Cheers,

Igor.
