Convert .stl to .ipt on inventor LT 2017

I have figured out that I can't use Mesh enabler on Inventor LT but I still need to convert an .stl file to a solid body so that I can edit it in Inventor LT, is there a 3rd party option or is there any other option I can used to get a solid file that I can edit on my current version of Inventor LT.

Thanks.

You sure LT can't use the mesh enabler addin? says it can here.

But there are other solutions there too.. Mesh Mixer,etc....

Yes, I have contacted someone from the auto desk team and they said it isn't supported on inventor LT.

I have meshmixer but I still need to edit the part in inventor and not in meshmixer, can you save it to a file type that is accepted on inventor?

@Anonymous see if this works for what you need.

If you start LT and have nothing open, no home screen just the grey area, can you drag and drop the .stl file there and have it open? Just curious.

Hi! I don't believe Mesh Enabler (see below) works on LT. If you subscribe to Inventor Professional, you can download the free utility allowing you to convert the mesh into a Brep body.

Could you tell me what you are trying to do with the mesh in Inventor? Do you want to slice it?

Many thanks!

I can open the .stl file in Inventor LT but it is a meshfeature and I need it to be a solid, the file you've sent seems to be the same as what I get when I open the file and not an editable solid I can use. Thank you for trying though I appreciate the effort and help.

Yes, I want to edit the .stl parts that I have so they are fit for what I need them for. After I have edited them I am going to export them back to an .stl so I can 3D print them.

Thank you

Hi! Is there any reason why you have to stay with Inventor LT? Is there any chance you could subscribe to Inventor Professional? You will be able to convert the mesh to Brep using Mesh Enabler tool easily.

Many thanks!

Oh.. There is that "salesman" in you Johnson..

Any reason you can't compile the Mesh Enabler to work with Inventor LT so that smaller companies,etc.. who have no need for the complete functionality of "pro" can still work in todays world which may involve mesh files? Smiley Wink

And while you are at it.. Why isn't Mesh Enabler built right into all versions of Inventor and why must it be an addin?

Just messing with you of course..

Well.. except why isn't mesh enabler just built into Inventor?

Hi Brian,

You are asking me some questions that I cannot answer. Mesh Enabler is a tool particularly made available for subscribers. Certainly, your arguments make sense but these are product decisions made for strategic reasons.

Many thanks!
