Convert .iam to .rfa

Hi,

Can some please help me understand how to convert my .iam files to a .rfa file?  My Assembly is all grayed out and some parts are missing. What are the steps to take to maintain all the color of my assembly parts. See image below.Need to convert rightNeed to convert right

What i did was

1. Shrinkwrap

2. using the BIM Content under Environments Tab I click Exported building components.

Your model is way too complex for a rfa model.  You need to simplify the model much more based on your screen image.  However the Inventor workflow to .rfa is flaky and doesn't really work successfully.  I would recommend that you BIM Exchange to Autodesk Exchange and then do the work in Revit if you can.

Its the same workflow just change the file extension type.

 

Update:  Change the file type in the dialog before creation (exporting).  2019-01-30_13-46-09.jpg  Then that file can be imported into Revit and finished.

 

Also by mistake I accepted your latest reply as the solution but unmarked it as the solution..

Hi! I think you might have Express mode activated. Go to Assembly ribbon panel -> Load Full. You will need to skip the resolving files or find the missing files. After that, you should be able to export to BIM Content.
