Hi Team,

I have a company Logo and I need to cut it out in sheet metal—the Logo in png or jpeg file.

Is this possible.

Thanks

I usually draw on an underlying image file by inserting it into a sketch, and constraining it, and then starting a separate sketch

Hi @lkirit2000 ,

I used project Salvador to test converting image to sketch in Fusion. The result was very promising:

If you have Adobe illustrator you can use 'live trace'

AutoCAD can trace image.

You can send dwg/dxf and skip Inventor.

It'll be millions of short lines.

Might need to change setting in laser to cut.

Hi,

Thanks for your responses.

Do we need to trace in AutoCAD manually or is there any feature?

Are you able to explain in detail?

Thanks

Kiri

Save or print your image as a .pdf file. Open AutoCAD and use the "PDFIMPORT" command. Done.

At a place I used to work, corporate sent out a 10-15 page document about "proper logo use". We were not to use any "unofficial" logos and so we had these nasty little image files on all of our drawings.

When we needed to make a special nameplate for a prestige project I had to make a mockup by trying to trace the logo with an image in a sketch (nothing I tried could match the wacky curves quite right and the text font was "almost" a couple of standard ones). After about a month of several different people trying to contact the corporate graphics department and anyone we thought could put some pressure on them to get a proper .dwg or something we could use we ended up with no choice but to use my mockup as is (the truck was moving before the guy who put the nameplates on hit the ground).

Do not let these people get away with it! Tell the people who designed your logo that you need a file you can use!

Everyone needs to insist that that the graphics design people must include a .dwg when they make a logo until such time as they start to do it on their own.

Hi! Another workflow to consider is in Fusion Mesh Design environment. Start a new design in Fusion -> disable Capture History (change it to Direct Modeling) -> go to Mesh Design environment -> Create -> Extrude -> Texture Extrude.

Many thanks!
