Content Center Editor - Failed to publish when I edit the table

I have a pretty large ipart file that I published to the content center.  Now that I have been using it for a while, I would like to add a few more rows to the table.  I edit the table and got it just the way that I wanted, but when I clicked "OK" to finish, I get a dialog that says "Failed to publish selected library" or something like that.  I cancelled out of it and lost my edits.  Closed Inventor, redid my edits again and got the same result.....crap!

This is a Vault managed library.  Looked in the ADMS and under this library, it says its "Read and Write". so it should be editable. I edited another member of the library it worked with that one.  Tried to edit the one that I tried the first time and it fails again.

Any clues as to why I get this error when I try to edit my CC part?

Thanks,

Kirk

When I edit the table, where is the file that I am editing actually stored?

When I look at the family properties, it shows "My Library". Is there a way to tell if the file is not "Read-Only"?

Hi,

You mentioned you vaulted your Content Center but what about the libraries? Are they within the ADMS or are you using Desktop Content and vaulting the results?

You should be able to go into the ADMS if the libraries are within it they will also tell you whether they are read/write.

If you are using Desktop Content Center, you can go to the project dialog box and in the lower right corner select the Configure Content Center libraries and there it will list the libraries and whether they are read/write.

@karthur1

Maybe this is a stupid question, but can you verify that the part can be generated with the dimensions you are using?  Do you still have the original ipart that you published?  You could add the new line item there and verify that the part can be generated.  Might be something as simple as a conflict in the geometry is causing it to fail.

Charlie,

I checked the ADMS and on that library, it says "Read and Write".  I tried editing one of the other CC files in the same library and it works fine when I finish the edits.

Can I send you the library and see if you can edit it?

Hi,

Sure I can look at the library. Please make sure it's in the idcl format. If not you can convert it by going into the Project file dialog box and selecting the button in the lower right corner and selecting the Configure Content Center libraries. In that dialog box you can select the Library Transfer Guide.

If you don't want to post the library I can accommodate it in another fashion.

Roman, no solution was ever posted for this issue.  I don't know if @karthur1 ever found a solution or not.

Can you describe in more detail what it is that you are experiencing, and with what version of Inventor?  Are you using Vault Content or Desktop Content?

Hi Chris

Thank You for your fast response.

A Colleague installed the content center directly on Vault.

Currently I am using the version: 2020.3.1 Inventor: 2020.3.2

Before the update everything was running as it should.

Since the update (I think it is related with my issues) i can only use the content center but not make any changes. If I try I get the message @karthur1 mentioned.

Unfortunately the message doesn't provide you with any information of what could be wrong..

Thank you for the details.

@johnsonshiue any ideas?  Could the update be causing this issue?

Hello Roman,

do you have troubles to publish iPart or a family table change?

If iPart, would be possible to share it with us,

if family table change (I suppose based on post description), it could be useful if you could share library file (Export creates MDF/LDF file - these 2 files would be nice to share with us)

Regards

I am having the exact same problem.

Also on 2020.3.2 inventor and 2020.3.1 vault

I would attach the mdf file but apparently it is not allowed?

Hi Jan

I have issues with the content center. I copied a Inventor Norm like DIN912 to the library wich is placed on the Vault server.

The whole content center isn't editable.

I guess the issues are related with the Vault update 2020.3.1.

Since yesterday is a case open with Autodesk. If you are interestet in the idcl-file I can forward it.

Best regards

Roman

I also have this same issue.

If I use content center locally, I can edit with no problems.

If I change to Vault it will let me edit, but will not save. I also can create new family tables, but can't edit them.

Hello guys,

sorry you have troubles to publish family table change/edit. The family DIN 912 was mentioned here so I tested this family -  I made changes in family properties, I changed the item Manufacturer + I edited family table, I made change for PartNumber, Material. Also new row was possible to add.

All seem to be OK, I was able to publish such changes + I was able to create instance of such modified members.

Being connected to Vault/remote server where ADMS is in the version 2020.3.1.

Let me know please what changes you did or better , send me to <[email protected]> log file generated by ADMS/Vault server. This is plain TXT file.

Hi there.

We are having the same problems at our company, after updating to the latest vault 2020 servicepack, 2020.3.1.

I've tried all things I could come up with.

Detach and attach libraries, to re-run the migration of the library.

Created a new library, still not able to do changes.

If I copy it to desktop I'm able to do changes to the database.

@jan_priban , do you have any ideas?
would you like to have a library to test with?

Hello Magnus,

it could be really useful if you could share your library (any form: local IDCL or remote mdf/ldf) with us. One possible way is upload files to Autodesk drive, but I need to know your email address to be able to invite you to my folder (https://a360.autodesk.com/drive). Or you can use any other storage box and let me know access info.

Let me know please

Regards

Hi,

My colleagues and I are also having the same issue. We are running Inventor 2020.3.3 and Vault 2020.3.1. Has there still been no solution found?

Regards,

Andrew

Not yet, @Andrew.McCowen .
@jan_priban has recently recieved a few files from me and a simple clip of what triggers it.
I will post as soon as I know anything from Jan or maybe he will do it himself.
