As a company we do a lot of work with quite complex extrusions that our supplier provides 2D CAD of the profiles. As we are moving more and more of our work into 3D I am looking for a way to take the 2D CAD and paste the geometry into an INVENTOR sketch and then auto constrain the sketch but in free space (rather than to a fixed point) such that I can then move the sketch of the extrusion to the required location to then extrude from. I can move the sketches to roughly the right location just dragging them and usually apply a single constraint put them in a single plane into the right location but when a second constraint is applied it deforms the profile (usually in a quite comedy manner)
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would very much like to avoid redrawing the huge variety of extrusions we use over and over again.
