Color Bar Value Missing

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi guys

(Autodesk Inventor 2017 running on HP ZBook G3 with Windows 7 64)

My Color Bar does not show values in the model analysis mode. I know that it usually shows type, unit, date and time as well as minimum and maximum value where I have drawn an arrow (see attachment). Does anyone know how to display this?

Thank you!

Best regards,

Martin

Can you attach the *.ipt file here?

What version of Inventor 2017 are you running?

iProperties indicates that you are running Service Pack 0.

The first thing I would do is install all Service Packs and Updates for your version of Inventor.

If that doesn't fix the issue - post back for other possible solutions.

@Anonymous I haven't updated any of my service packs, so I can reproduce errors easier or laziness not sure which, and the file opens with the Color Bar showing values.

Might want to try updating your Service Pack or running the Inventor Reset Utility as this doesn't look like it should be happening.

When you open the Color Bar Settings what do you see? If you change the values do the numbers come back somehow?

I will try to update Service Pack

Thank you!

What are the specs of your Graphics Card?

Also check for latest driver for your Graphics Card.

Are you running on an integrated graphics chip or a separate graphics card?

If updates do not solve the issue then go to Windows Start>All Programs>Autodesk Inventor>Tools>Inventor Reset Utility.

Reboot and check again.

I have the Nvidia Quadro M1000M with latest drivers. Also tried the Inventor Reset Utility with no luck 😞

@Anonymous this might be related to your issue:

random startup crash on systems with nvidia quadro graphics

Autodesk products will have a random application startup crash on systems using an NVidia Quadro gra...

I haven't heard of any performance issue like yours but maybe this is connected? If you can re-verify the driver update hopefully that will help.

@Anonymous were you able to read through the links and see if that affected your setup?

Hi,

Yes I did. Can't find the problem, but I'll be upgrading to Inventor 2018 soon. I will post an update after that.

Thank you!

I was having the same problem. The source of it is kind of silly.

The text color for the values is set as white. So when using a white background the text is there but you can't see it. Inventor doesn't know that it's text is the same color as the background so it doesn't change it to something visible.

If you switch the color of your background you will see that the text was there all along.

Hope this helps.

Does anybody know if there's somewhere a registry-key to edit this color in color bar of fem?

@dg2405

Can you Attach *.ipt file here that exhibits this behavior?

This is a normal behavior of Inventor, when you make your Background white. So i think there must be a registy key to edit the color. When changing colortheme from "Millenium" to "Heaven blue" the textcolor of the bar in fea changes from black to white. But till now i couldn't find our which key it is.

No.

I have taught my students to change the background to white (Presentation) for 10 years for the purpose of creating FEA report documents.

We see black text with white background.

I notice that you did not Attach a *.ipt file that exhibits this behavior.

Small contribution, once I had something similar in win 10, FEA analysis was not executed correctly, I solved it in the folder Autodesk-> Inventor 2018 and here I searched for all the * .exe files, and I gave each file administrator permission. I also happened with other software Radan, and with similar slight changes I was solved.

No Registry manipulation required. Not sure about previous releases but in 2019.2 there is a customize schemes button added to the color tab of the application options menu. If you select the color scheme that you want then go into customize you can change the background color in there to white. This will trigger Inventor to display the FEA text in black.

It is way easier then using a plain white image as the background which is what I had been doing for a while.

@mcgyvr I used the Beam.ipt in post 3, couldn't reproduce on 2017.4.8 or 2019.3 so there seems to be something different between our setups.

It sounds like the text turns to white or transparent for you when using Presentation mode?

When you turn it to gradient does the text show up as black?

I haven't been able to find a way to recreate.
