Civil Land in Inventor???

I was just wondering how you make a surface in Cadd and be able to import it into Inventor to use as land for a site. I know when i get the surface drawing into inventor i need to add a thickness to it to have it show up. I tried a IGS and a SAT files from civil 3d cad. i dont think my surfaces are accually flat surfaces but lines connecting together to make a grid. It wont accept my drawing...am i doing something wrong? thanks everyone.

Can you post the IGES file and the version of Inventor you are
using?

To post on the Autodesk.Inventor discussion group, the file
must be zipped and under 1.5 MB.

For larger files:

href="http://interlancentral.com">http://interlancentral.com

.

Read the instructions on the home page link. No limit on file
size.

WHEN POSTING ASSEMBLY OR IDW/DWG FILES:

Make sure you include all part files along  with the assembly (.iam)
file. When posting IPN/IDW files, be sure to attach all related ipt and iam
files as well.

Please notify in this thread when you have posted the files. Be sure to
note the version of Inventor used.

Your Civil3D file opened in Civil3D2009 consists of faces
which are not compatible with Inventor. Inventor only supports NURBS surfaces. I
opened the C3D file in Mechanical Desktop 2009 ( MDT2008 was not compatible) and
converted the faces to NURBS surfaces through the IGESOUT/IGESIN
options.

The converted 29 MB zipped IGES file is located in the
October08 folder at
href="http://interlancentral.com">http://interlancentral.com
  Follow
theinstructions on the home page for access. You will need a system with more
than 2GB even to open it. I'd suggest that you simplify the original C3D
file.
