Choice in "File Open" Application Options dialog will not 'stick'

Almost on a daily basis i 'un-check' til File Open option to "Skip all unresolved files"

I.e. I do not want Inventor to skip the prompt for unresolved files.

And yet, when i later taht day or the next day open a file (assembly or drawing etc) there is noe propmt to reolve, and I end up in the assembly with unresolved files to resolve.

Why won't my choice 'stick', why is the not recorded in the correct manner?

Btw, I have the same issue with the File Open (and other File Dialog boxes) where i change the size, and yet - in the next session - the size i back to whatever is the default.

Why?

Hi! If the options in Tools -> App Options -> File -> Open Options do not persist, it sounds like a bug to me. Is it possible, there is a process running to revert such change (back to install default) on a daily basis?

Many thanks!

As @johnsonshiue said, make sure that the option is not checked in the application options under the File tab -> File Open... button.

Thank you for a wonderfully apt and insightful answer.

Did you at all read my original post?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing and was the reason I didn't even respond to the help suggestion. It's obvious that they didn't even read the whole issue before making a suggestion as to how to correct it. I mean even in the subject line you had "Application Options will not stick". You can't get more specific then that...

***CAUTION*** I am not an expert. Just a simpleton pushing buttons . So be very cautious to this fix below. It worked for me, and I am not 100% sure it will work for you. Make sure you back up what ever you change just in case!!!!!

I did find a fix that is working for me. Do a Windows search for the following file "UserApplicationOptions.xml". You will see that (in my case) that the file is listed 3 or 4 times. That file is used for several different AutoDesk apps. I figured out that Inventor was showing it twice. One in the "Inventor 2019" folder and another one in the "Inventor ICP Sever 2020" folder. I made the changes I needed in Inventor 2019's options then exported that file (which is called "UserApplicationOptions.xml") to my desktop. I then did a "copy / replace" in both of those folders. So far this week the issue has gone away.

I would assume if you have more version of Inventor that each Inventor "version" would have it's own "UserApplicationOptions.xml"? I am not sure that those would be needed to be replaced as I have not tested it.

Thank you so much, I will try that

Although, the problem seem to have solved itself somehow, I have since changed to a Win10 machine, that functions OK (not the resizing of the dialog boxes though)

But I am still using the old Win 7 at home (Corona, you know) and it seems to have been 'scared away' on that machine also!)

I am on Win 10 and had the problem on but 7 and 10 , so I am wondering if it has to do with the way the folders are created during the initial install?
