Change Style Standard

Hi All,

We have been doing some tiding up of our style standards with in inventor.

Unfortunately there are some old left over geometry embedded in old title blocks, borders, sketch symbols etc.

Is it possible to edit this old geometry and force it to the new standard as at this stage it appears that its not possible.

I have attached a cut down and simplified version of our standard template to see it anyone can come up with a solution apart from re-drawing title blocks, borders, sketch symbols etc.

The only way that I am able to Purge the old standard is to edit the 'A4 Makum' border definition and delete all lines that make up the border.

These line were created long in the past and are not part of the new standard.

Is it possible to reassign this old geometry so it associated itself with the new style standard. As this is not the only occurrence of the problem.

Thanks

Stuart

@Anonymous

This template was originally created with Inventor 2013 SP2 and last edited with Inventor 2017.1..  Is that enough details?   Smiley Very Happy   But yes @stuartmp should indicate which version of Inventor they are using when they post files..  Smiley Wink

Here you go.

  • I started a new drawing from the standard ISO template
  • copied your A4 Makum border into its Drawing Resources folder
  • in the new drawing, renamed the Default Standard (ISO) to Makum-001
  • copied the A4 Makum border back to your template (which now is based on the Makum-001 standard)
  • purged the Default Standard (ISO)

Hope that helps,

Hi Sam.
Thanks a lot for working out that work around. I can confirm that what you described works.
However when I tried the same method on the full Titleblock I was unable to get the same results.
It appears that even if I switch the layers of all lines, arcs, circles etc to one contained within the Default Standard (ISO) style.
Then also switch the Object Styles of the Text, Dims etc to one contained within the Default Standard (ISO) style it still won't allow me to purge
the Makum-001 so I am able to rename the style standard Default Standard (ISO) to Makum-001 and continue.
Do you think you could have another look at it for me. really appreciate it.
I have included two files in 2017 format.
One is our full template 'Old Makum - Template' and one is another cut down version of the full template 'Standard-Default ISO - Copy' with a sample of an line entity that will not change to the Default Standard (ISO) were I have tried to follow the method you described above.
Thanks
Stuart

Hi! The style seems to be corrupted. Somehow the lines in the Border definition carry attributes leading Inventor to believe that Makum-001 is still being used. If you know how to reproduce the corruption, please let me know asap. Many thanks!
