Change hole to slotted hole (revision)

Hi,

How do I make sure I don't lose constraints when I change a hole to a slotted hole during an revision.

The holes have of course been used for constructing constraints.

But when I change it into a slotted hole, it gives problems.

Of course you want to prevent this while making a revision, otherwise you will get assemblies with error messages.

I hope someone has a good solution for this.
Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Jeffrey

There really isn't a good way to do this.  It's two different extrusion types.

You can try make an axis / point in there. Or work planes, but this hasn't always been a issue going from Hole to slot.

2nd way is to not have the hole as the constraint but to have it be based off of 2 edges and distances given. Then it doesn't matter about the hole or slot.  ( but a tad time consuming to do at first but not impossible or complicated)

Hi! Mike is right. When the constraint participating geometry and topology have been changed, more than likely the constraints will fail. It is because the original geometry is no longer available. You could bypass the limitation by using iMate though. iMate match happens on iMate type and iMate name. Even if the geometry has been change, the iMate will still match.

If you have an example to share, we can take a look and see if iMat works for your case.

Many thanks!
