Change default reference data settings in drawing views

Hi there,

I use quite a few reference parts in my assemblies (they don't contribute to the BoM but are there as visual aids). By default these parts as displayed with as reference parts and the hidden lines are shown on drawing views but this is not how I want to display these parts so each time I insert a drawing view I change the Display Style and Hidden Line Calculation on the Model tab. I would like to makes these settings default.

Just to make it clear which settings I am talking about, here is a screenshot of the Drawing View dialog box that opens when a view is placed.

These are the settings I set for each drawing view.

I've followed these instructions to try and change these to be default but these particular settings don't seem to be set in this way.

Any suggestions for how I can make these settings my default for any new drawing view I create?

Hi Jared,

I am not aware of a way to store the default settings in this panel at the moment.

Many thanks!

Why not?  The default overly thick hidden line is NEVER used.  The setting must be changed in the Drawing View dialog EVERY time a reference part is used.  There needs to be a way to change the default setting.  This is one of the basic usability quirks that Inventor has that is never addressed by Autodesk in their zeal to add more and more unneccessary "features".  Please fix it!

Hi Peter,

I am not arguing the need to have such control. I am merely stating the fact that it isn't available. Please feel free to submit the request as an idea on Inventor Ideas forum (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/idb-p/inventor-ideas-en), so that the project team can prioritize them accordingly.

Many thanks!
