Change configuration library content center

Hi everybody! I’m trying to publish an ipart in the content center library, but I cannot because my library is only read one. Is it possible to change the library configuration to read/write?

I’ve read that the only way to manage this change is creating a new read/write library. If I do that, another copy of the content center will be created?

@dibujocad

When you create a new Read/Write library, it will be added to your current Content Center setup.  The libraries that you have already set up in your Inventor Project will still be there, and the new library will be added.  It is the only way to either add your own published items or copy existing families so that you can modify them.

Thank you for your reply @CGBenner. So, if I create a new Read/Write library, will I get a copy of the one set up in my Inventor Project and will it be saved in the same path as well?

Hi! Let me explain a little bit about the settings. The Content Center Library .idcl files are stored in the folder designated in Tools -> App Options -> Content Center. That is the folder where Inventor tries to find the .idcl files. What actual libraries are included in your project is set by the setting in the project.

When you create a new Read/Write library, the .idcl file will be saved in the same folder as other .idcl files.

Many thanks!

To simply answer your question: no, it will create a empty library.

The content Center has access to ALL libraries in this project, so dont worry too much about that.

Use the content center editor to copy (and edit) files from one library to the other. Or in your case: just hit the publish part button 🙂
