chain motion

I know this has been talked about before in here, but has anyone ever constrained a chain to rotate with gears? I have a spur gear, pinion gear and the chain all constructed and think that it is impossible to contrain them properly and still allow motion. Has anyone got this one figured out?

You're right. Do a search for "chain" in the NG.

Actually after years of saying no I think this can be done. I'm working on
a model right now to illustrate the point. It's not going to be pretty
however. And it's not something you'd be doing for all your models.
