Centralizing templates

I just started at a new job and there's talk about merging all the order folders to keep things organized, and also there's talk about bringing on some more people to help with design.

This got me thinking because the guy that I replaced has all the standard templates, dwgs with company logos, blank sheet metal ipt with our specs on it etc, in his folder on the shared drive. I'm just wondering when we combine everything will this cause issues when making new files?

HI!

If you're not using PROJECT files for your jobs, most probably you will lose a lot of links in assemblies parts, content center, etc etc.

Note: You have to reset the Project files templates location: point the templates folder to the new templates location folder. The same for content center, library folders, etc.

This is doable, but... you have to know what you're doing, and the consequences of moving things... to fix properly the issues that will occur.

If you're not aware about the problems this will arise, i suggest you ask for help to someone more experienced on that, ask your Autodesk reseller (if you have one) to give you some support.

Tip:
If you want to go ahead with this, I suggest you test first some jobs, without changing the original files location.
