CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess.exe constant CPU Usage in 2023.1 update

CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess.exe is constantly using 4-5% cpu on 8 core 16 thread CPU system.

I have not noticed this bug in the earlier version.

This process relates to the Home page as killing it makes the home screen blank

The hack of killing the CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess.exe from the windows task manager and turning home back on using the quick access toolbar whenever needed and then killing the process again seems to work for me now.

It does add a couple of clicks but its better than constantly pegging a CPU core to the max.

So my workaround for this is to open all the files I need and the kill the CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess.ex using windows task manager. In case I need to open more recent files, I open home again from the quick access menu and then kill the process after opening the files.

It does add a few click to the workflow but its better compared to constantly pegging a CPU thread.

Too much clickery for me, but it's a good suggestion.

I'll rely on sarcasm and my keyboard warrior skills to shame the dev team into fixing it.  (LOL - Just kidding - I have huge respect for all the dev team.)

Fortunately I use Vault and have a "Files I worked on today" saved search, so it's as good as the Home Screen.

Agreed.  Installed 2023.2 this morning and 10 minutes in CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess starts up.

There's a "Like" button on your post... I'm looking for one called "Don't like"!

Maybe we feature request a dislike button for the Inventor Forum 😛

These forums cause my browser to lock up for several seconds, on different computers. So, let's not get hasty on what we "fix".

Same here problem persists.

So much for the feedback that this was getting fixed in this release.

Not wanting to hijack this thread, but I'm also experiencing loooong wait times on the forums.  Often >30s.  It doesn't matter which browser, private mode, cleared browser cache etc.  @BDCollett - I thought it was just me... thanks for mentioning you have the problem too!

Seems to be on Microsoft Edge.

When I test on Chrome it works fine (although I wasn't logged in so that may be the variable)

Hi Folks,

This issue has been discussed in a few threads. I am very sorry that I mistook 2023.2 would fix the issue. But, it does not. The issue was reported as INVGEN-63695. The project team is actively investigating the problem. We don't have a solution yet.

Replies like this is what makes this forum so valuable.  Thank you @johnsonshiue

Now go crack the whip at the developers 😉.  I'm still waiting to use the excellent Home screen after the functionality was fixed by the 2023.1 update, but the update also made it unusable.

Hi! Unfortunately, the 2023.2.1 does not contain the fix. The fix will be in the coming 2023.3 update (March/April). It has been verified on an internal build.

Many thanks!

So it looks the bug is solved in 2023.3 Update. I have upgraded it a couple of hours back and the CPU usage stays 0 when Inventor is not being used.

I hope the same is applied to 2024 version also.
