Hi,
I have 2 network licenses 1 PDSU and 1PDSP
When I launch inventor 2017 it take 1 PDSU, and when I launch the seconde inventor 2017 he say their are no licenses.
When I launch inventor 2016 all is right.
lmtools is 11.13 on windows 8 no firewall.
What can i do to launch inventor 2017 to take PDSP licence first?

There's one extra registry value that needs to be created...
Create the following reg value within HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion21.0
Name: LicenseMode
Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 3

Hi All,
This is my current understanding:
1. This was not done purposely; it was an issue with the 2017 release. If you have Professional installed, then the first time it runs it does need a Professional or Ultimate Suite license, but then after that it should only use Standard or Premium until you use actually use Professional functionality. The issue was that after the first run it will always try to use Professional/Ultimate incorrectly.
2. The workaround documented here is ingenious & deserves kudos, but all it does it essentially tell Inventor always to be Standard regardless of whether Professional is installed; so you're not fixing the licensing issues, you're just masking it.
3. We hope to have addressed this for 2017 SP1; a Beta version will be provided in the very near future for validation.
4. If this is a real issue for you now then the best solution is to contact your reseller or Autodesk Product Support & request additional network licenses for Ultimate; they should provide this coverage until SP1 is officially released later in July.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Chris
Thanks very much for the clarification, @ChrisMitchell01. I'll sleep a little easier tonight!

I have to be the bearer of bad news.. But I also discovered if you are using factory design suite in 2017, it will consume 2 licenses when you start using factory functions.

@Mark.Lancaster i am not seeing this
can you verify that you see you are grabbing 2 licenses by running a status enquiry on Flex LM

so you installed Inventor by itself not from a suite?
this is probably why i am not seeing this
I installed Inventor Pro from Factory it does not grab 2 licenses

Nope My Inventor Pro installation came from Product Design Suite Ultimate. Last night I added the Factory Design Utilities to test this cascading information on FDS stuff.
I also just changed my license file to remove Product Design Suite Ultimate from it and when I launched Inventor (Pro) it consumed a Factory Design Suite Ultimate license which I thought it would based on the information @ChrisMitchell01 provided here. But when I started using factory functions it went and consume another license (Factory Design Suite Premium).
My next step, I'm going to make another change to my license file and only get a qty of 1 for Factory Design Suite Ultimate and remove the Factory Design Suite Premium from my license and I want to see if I get a message that there's no license available since its seems to be grabbing 2 license.

So I found out if you only have a single license of Factory Design Suite Ultimate, it will consume the same license when you start using factory functions.. Same holds true if you have a multi-qty of FDS U. But if you also have Factory Design Suite Prem in your license file then it will consume 2 license.
@DarrenP do you have FDS Prem in your license file?

I hate to beat a dead horse here but I just found something else out...
If I just have Product Design Suite Ultimate and Factory Design Suite Ultimate in my license file and I launch Inventor Pro, it will always consume the FDS U License. This is getting really complicated and will impact a lot of users.

Yes, there are a myriad of combination here to test out here; however as mentioned below we hope to have fixed this in Inventor 2017 SP1 - that will be in beta very soon & is planned for release in mid-late July.
If anyone is experiencing real production downtime due to this issue then please contact your Reseller or Autodesk Product Support & request additional network licenses.
Thanks
Chris
Hi Mark,
if you have PrDSU and FDSU license in server by default configuration. we expect when opening AIP, it first consume PrDSU license. when you use factory design related functions, FDSU license will be checked out and PrDSU will go back to server in 2 minutes.
if you see different behavior, please try to close Inventor and delete the temporary file "CascadeInfo.cas" in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\AdLM folder, then launch Inventor again.
As mentioned below, the 2017 R2 release candidate build is now available from the Inventor Beta project; it would be greatly appreciated if anyone who is struggling with this issue would test that out & provide any further feedback in the Beta forums.
If you do not currently have access to the Inventor beta project you can apply using this one-time application link:
https://bit.ly/InventorBeta (Please don't use it if you already have access),
Thanks

I know the topic solution is still work in progress but I wanted to clarify my last posting
I said "If I just have Product Design Suite Ultimate and Factory Design Suite Ultimate in my license file and I launch Inventor Pro, it will always consume the FDS U License." I made a mistake when I posted..
My license file that I had used for my test had Product Design Suite Premium and Factory Design Suite Ultimate. It did not contain PDSU.. So that would still confirm that Inventor Pro 2017 when launched would still want a related license for Inventor Pro.

Hi, we have the same problem but with diferent products. PDSP x PDSU.
When we launch Inventor, it always gets a license from PDSU, but the user does not need the professional features, only premium.
In the past, when we launched Inventor PRO, it was always start with PDSP and if the user starts a function like Tube and Pipe, the license was changed to PDSU.
This is a problem, because when a user need to work with Professional features, these will not available at a time
.
@Anonymous
Yes this is known issue and Autodesk is actively working on it. I think the fix is coming out with Inventor 2017 SP1 (however I don't know the release date of SP1 - no one does - well Autodesk does.. ).

@Anonymous
Also I just wanted to add so you will understand it as well..
When Inventor Professional is launched for the very first time (like you just installed it or updated it)... Inventor Pro will always grab a higher seat license (like PDSU). When you exit and launch it again then it will grab the lower license like it did prior to 2017. Then when you start to use the Inventor Pro functions the license is then switched over to Pro.

Hi Chris,
I got a chance to test the Beta Service Pack but it did not resolve the problem.
Now I try to get a temporarily extension of our licenses via support case from Autodesk.
Regards
Michael
