Cant get bolted connections to use point on frame generator

Sorry for my newbiness but I am really struggling with frame generator and trying to apply bolted connections. I create a sketch...at just about every level from top to the element and when I go to use the point option, the drawn points are not highlighting...obviously missing something very simple. Thanks for any help

Hi @mwesse,

It seems you created an assembly sketch, which is not supported. To work on it, you have to create a part level sketch instead.

You can inplace create a part and create a new sketch, project those points you want and back to assembly, then, you can create bolt connection based on those points.

Thanks Xun, I was able to get it working and understand.

Following on from that.... Now with using the hole method and wanting to follow a patterned hole set, why is it that the following doesnt work? ie follow pattern is greyed out?

Also, if the sketch is in with the frame ie as per pic, why isnt that available as points for bolts?

Regard to the pattern problem, it also request a part level hole feature pattern rather than assembly hole pattern.

If you talking about "Sketch 1" in your image, it is an assembly sketch. If you talking about sketch "Frame model reference", it is a 3D sketch. so that's the reason why you can't reuse them.
