Cant annotate drawing view for this part without inventor freezing up

When I create a drawing view for this part that includes a flat pattern it freezes up when I place a single dimension annotation. It forces me to force close inventor. I will include the part file for any who wants to try.

When this happens do you get a Crash Error Report?

Ok,... thanks for that info.

I downloaded your part, and I am not able to reproduce this.  What version of Inventor are you using, and can you give us a breakdown of your system specs?  Are you up to date on all product updates?

I, too, am not having any trouble placing dimensions on a drawing made from this part.  Is it possible that you have the option Edit dimension when created checked, and that the Edit Dimension dialog is appearing off screen waiting for your response?  What happens if you hit Enter or Escape?

Hi! This could be hardware related. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the graphics driver is updated. Also update any other hardware driver like 3DConnexion device.

Many thanks!

all drivers and updates are installed, thanks all for looking into this for me. I simply try to make drawing from the part and when I go to place a dimension the whole program freezes and does not respond. There are no windows that prompt anything for me.

Hi! Could you record a video or screencast showing the behavior? I am still clueless at the moment. Is it possible another application takes away the cursor focus from time to time?

Many thanks!

I've got some guys that are having similar problems with Inventor 2019. They work on a drawing and move along fine, then suddenly (seemingly at random because I can't reproduce it but I've witnessed the behavior on their machines), they will go to add a dimension, a leader, a balloon, or edit text and Inventor will hang up. If they are able to add a dimension but then hit "ESC", it freezes. Saving will restore functionality, as will an "undo". I've got 15 users I help support and only 3 of them are having these issues.

What we've tried:

Install all updates.

Full Uninstall/Reinstall

Disable iLogic.

Disable Add-ins.

Search for hidden dialog boxes on freeze (the old Alt+space, M, Arrow Key trick).

No dice on any of it. It seems like once you have that first hang you get stuck in an loop and it will happen every time. But it's not all our users. Our IT department and myself are really scratching our heads on this one.

Edit: To be clear, there isn't a crash. Inventor just hangs. Almost like the screen isn't updating. It's been a frustrating few weeks since this has started and we haven't been able to reliably replicate the problem or narrow down the cause. This happens on existing drawings and new drawings.

Hi! Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed. Are the files stored in the network shared drive? Are the appearance and material libraries on the shared drive too?

Many thanks!

After a lot of investigation into what was going wrong, we determined that it was from an iLogic rule that was doing a check to see if the drawing was checked in or out of vault. Apparently this rule was modifying the selection set filters somehow and giving the appearance of freezing but wasn't actually freezing the drawing. We turned the vault check portion of the iLogic off and everything returned to functioning properly.
