Cannot make extrusion transparent

To my knowledge there is an option in inventor that makes extrusions transparent, but for some reason it does not show up when I right click it. Is there an application option I turned off somehow or is the 2019 version unable to do this? I can do this for parts in assembly but not in individual model extrusions as I have seen in other forums and guides.

I do not believe that is possible, but you have two alternatives/workarounds:

1- make the extrusion as a surface:

2- make the extrusion as a new solid, then remove visibility or CHANGE ITS MATERIAL APPEARANCE (to, say, polycarbonate clear or another clear appearance) as needed:

I think it's only in assemblies, drawings or presentations, but not at feature level unless using surfaces.

As shown above with the new solid is the only way to do it. If you don't make it a multibody you can only make the entire part transparent.

Hi! Gabriel and James are right. Inventor feature color and face color does not support transparency. Because, it could look into the model interior which could look very odd. Also, deriving a transparent body or part will lead to a dull body for the same reason.

Many thanks!
