This error pops up every time I start inventor and create the 1st new assembly. The second time it is gone, but as soon as I restart inventor it comes back the 1st time creating a new AIM

I reset my inventor

I did a get/overwrite from design data from the Vault

(I aslo cannot start Style Manager 2025 on my laptop)

nothing helps

Do the XML files actually exist in those locations?

Reason I ask is I had an issue like this, but when we upgraded from 22 to 24, I was missing the "EdgeSymbol.xml" Once i copied that in to my design data, all errors went away.

See if you have "TransitionSymbol.xml"

Hi Johan,

I suspect the path is not formulated correctly. What the is the exact path to the \Design Data\ on your machine?

Many thanks!

Why are the folder options of the project file all set to default instead of being defined by the project file? The way you currently have it, you will have to manually adjust this with every new release.....If it was just defined in the project file, you would not have to alter these settings ever again unless you changed a location of something. You could just leave the application options to the default stuff, and your project file will tell the software the correct locations to look for things.

Hi Johan,

Many thanks for sharing the screenshot! Please also share the Folder options in the active project. Which folder contains "Design Data"? The error seems to indicate the style library is missing.

Thanks again!

@blandb I never changed it since 2020... until 2025. I never had this problem until last week.

Can you show all the .xml files in that design data folder?

Just at the root.

Do you reuse the same design data folder from previous releases? If so, as I mentioned in the 2nd and 3rd post, you will be missing the TRANSITIONSYMBOL.xml file as it is NEW to 2025 and is not in there from previous releases.

https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-B9714DB3-A025-4B8D-90DC-17EF6E26275A

if that has been copy and pasted from the default 2025 design data, just see when you start a new assy if the message is gone. If so, just remember to save the assy template and to save the style library to make sure the transitionsymbol.xml is in your project style library.

OK, we found that our Design folder in Vault was still with older files from previous realeases. We deleted it and placed a 2025 version in Vault. From then on the error dissapeared.

Thx for all sugestions.

All you needed to do was add that missing .xml file. If you wiped out your original and replaced with the default stuff any customizations you guys may have made could now potentially be gone such as dim styles, text styles, layers, etc. The error dialog box showed what couldn't be found. Unless when you added all the new 2025 stuff, you then updated your templates with what you had in the styles libraries to fix the default.

You could of just just scanned your root design data xml files and compared to out of the box and seen what was missing. But also, maybe you just run with the default setting too. We don't know. Glad you got it working.
