Hello,

Is it possible to export to 3D PDF in the student version of Inventor Professional 2019? The option seems to be greyed out for me.

Hi! Based on the ribbon panels, it looks like you have a drawing file opened. 3D PDF can only be exported from an assembly or a part.

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue,

The Export > 3D PDF command is also disabled (grayed out) for me when I have opened an iPart factory-generated part.

The 3D PDF command is available if I open a standard part or assembly.

I tried to use the Task Scheduler 2022, Publish 3D PDF command to make PDFs of the iPart files, but all files failed.

Why can't you make a 3D PDF of an iPart generated file?

Regards,

Jerry

@JBerns  and @tomasz.sztejka

Have you opened the ipart member file or the ipart factory file?

Which Inventor version?

If you open the member many commands are disabled.. including the ability to make a 3d pdf..

But when you have the factory open/active 3d pdf should be enabled.

@mcgyvr,

Yes, I can open the individual, member (children) files. They are not corrupt.

Yes, I understand the 3D PDF command is disabled. I am asking why it is disabled.

What is so different from a member part and a standard part that you can't use Export to 3D PDF?

I am trying to export dozens of members. This will be tedious to export one at a time from the factory part.

Again I ask Autodesk, why is the 3D PDF command disabled in iPart member (children) parts and in the Task Scheduler for iPart member files.

This is for Inventor 2019 with latest updates applied. I think I tried 2022 and it was also disabled. but cannot confirm as of this writing.

Regards,

Jerry

Hi Jerry,

The reason why 3D PDF is blocked in an iPart/iAssembly member file is that all Save and Export commands are blocked there. A member file's definition, update, and save operations are dictated by the factory file. As a result, individual member file is like a child file. It cannot be saved by itself.

I am sorry it is indeed tedious to activate each member and then export from the factory. You may want to create an iLogic rule or a VB.Net code to automate the process.

Many thanks!

Thank you for the confirmation, Johnson.

I will try your suggestion to automate with iLogic.

Community,

Attached please find my solution to export all rows of an iPart to STL (binary, mm, high resolution) format.

I welcome your feedback.

In Inventor Professional 2023, I have found that occasionally the app does not seem to recognize what file type is open.

Even though I have a .ipt active, the 3D PDF export option is greyed out. If I open a drawing, then switch back to the .ipt the option is then available. This is definitely a bug, but that's the work around.

Hi! I am wondering if certain dlls required to do 3D PDF Export were not loaded properly. Please close all Inventor sessions and go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variables -> create "DYNAMIC_LOAD_APPLETS" and set it to 0. Does it work better now?

Many thanks!

Hi! I am sorry I don't have a clue. Did you try running Inventor as Admin (right-click on Inventor desktop icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> check "Run as Admin")?

Many thanks!
