Can't thicken imported Surface from 3D Scanner / Geomagic Wrap

Hi all,

I've got a .stp I've exported from Geomagic Wrap which was produced from a 3D scan, I am hoping to be able to thicken it by 5mm in the outwards direction but always get an error (either not meaningful or too large topology change).

Is there any way I can use the reference lines to create a new surface model? Or to easily thicken this without doing every face individually?

Hi @kyle7GJJY

The software can't create the thickness in this case due a geometric impossibility due a some scan zones.

Can this workaround work for you?

Hi! For scanned data or mesh converted geometry, I believe you will be better off using Fusion 360. It has a dedicated mesh modeling environment and more flexible way to defining geometry. Please try it on Fusion 360.

Many thanks!

You need to copy surfaces to the "construction" feature and then trim out the errors. I removed the one spiked surface and then stitched together, and then "copy to" under the construction options. Then it can be thickened

to a solid.
