After installing Inventor 2020 on a brand new computer I kept getting the same error message.

Can't run :fwUI.dll

Tried to Repair, Reinstall - reinstall windows etc. but without success.

Finally ended up looking in to the Regional settings.
Removed the check mark from "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support"

And that solved the problem 🙂   -  Damm you Microsoft.....Grrrrr

Hi! Please read reply #21 and follow the instruction to uncheck the option. If it does not help, please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and appropriate .Net is enabled (2019 and 2020 need .Net 4.7 and 2021 needs .Net 4.8).

Many thanks!

Just helped an employee with "FwUI.dll" error.
The employee stated that Inventor 2021 worked, but after installing updates, then "FwUI.dll" error started to appear.

First we turned of the beta as suggested, didn't help. We switched system language and restarted, didn't help.
Then I noticed that the initial shortcut was named * - English. Looked at the shortcut properties and saw "/language=ENU" at the end of Target:
When removing that from Target, which equals running Inventor.exe clean from it's location, it worked fine.
Hope that helps somebody.

...maybe it's worth to mention: somebody could be in this situation.

Make sure you are not trying to install on any "End Of Service" Win10: if you try to install Inv2020+ on any 1809 or previous edition of win10, you might incur in this problem, and there is not very much you can do to avoid it (none of the tips posted in the previous 29 posts will help you).

Microsoft has decided that Windows10 has only 18 months of life, and like it or not, you need to live with it.

Then if you are very unlucky (as me 😵), and you have to upgrade about 70 workstations running Inventor 2016 on Win10 1809, you will do your homework accurately before proceeding...
